“Those Who Tax Us Unfairly, Simply See Us As Numbers.”
DON’S MESSAGE TO YOU
Hello, I’m Don Dixon…your County Commissioner.
Like many of you, I was a little bit shocked and a whole lot angry when I found out that our state bureaucrats recently ordered 42% property tax hikes.
There were others—even in Butler County—who said “You just can’t fight the state.”
Not So Fast. I reminded them of past battles with the state over huge tax hikes…that we won. We did in fact, “do it.” In fact, since 2008 we have fought and lowered more than $120 million of property taxes for you.
That’s how this country is supposed to work.
You see, state number crunchers only see the numbers. Here in Butler County, I see people. I’ve lived here all my life. This is my home. These “Numbers” are my Friends, my Neighbors, and the lady at Home Depot who tells me how much she appreciates that I fight for her. Whenever I check out with her, I never see her as a “Number.”
This fight is personal with me. And that’s why I’m motivated to fight for the county and its people for all these years. How can state officials look me in the eye and tell me to quit on the people I represent?
So I choose to stand up and fight for the sweet lady at Home Depot. Somebody has to stand up to such bureaucratic insanity. You gotta care about and fight for all those people who elect you to care about and fight for them.
We've proven there is a way to cut waste and reduce taxes…and to be “Debt Free.” We did it and still managed to take care of the needy, help the homeless, create jobs, and run an exceptional government that helps make dreams come true.
The only way it works is to forget what’s in it for the so-called “leaders” who need to stop working for themselves, and to start working for the people. Leaders who really believe that it matters to build a county based on helping the lady at Home Depot.
A former Butler County auditor who often opposed my views once told me that his job was to fill the county’s coffers. Tax. Tax. Tax. I corrected him, and told him that my job is always to remember who I really work for. Those who pay the taxes with their money…that’s always their money. Not the government’s.
So, I go to work every day, roll my sleeves up and get it done.
I sincerely hope that’s why you vote for me in the first place.
